Hackmanite is a variety of Sodalite containing sulphur which often exhibits tenebrescence ie. it changes colour in light and reverts when in the dark.

Hackmanite can be held in meditation, or placed on the body, and can be placed under the pillow or on the bedside table when treating sleep issues.  Hackmanite is known as the ‘stone of eternal belonging’. It is a stone which is said to remind us of how everything has its own time and place. Use Hackmanite when working with issues of trust, be it self-trust or trust of others. Hackmanite is a strong support crystal.  Hackmanite is a wonderful crystal to use when wanting to attain a deep, spiritual meditative state.

Known as the Chameleon Crystal, Hackmanite contains what scientists call tenebrescence, which is the ability of a stone to change color when exposed to light.  Pink Hackmanite will turn colorless when in sunlight, and slowly return to its former pink when left in the dark. The change in color can be seen within seconds of being exposed to light.  When placed back into a dark place or when exposed to short wave ultraviolet light, the original color of the stone slowly returns.  It can take up to a week for the original color of the stone to return.
